Very Vintage

I know yesterday was "Throwback Thursday", but I decided to take it back a few decades on this lovely Friday. I'm wearing a pair of clip on earrings that I snatched up for $3 at a thrift store. The sunglasses I'm wearing are from Forever 21. They're quickly becoming my favorite pair; I love the butterfly shape, and the neutral color goes with just about anything! The shirt I'm wearing actually belongs to my mama- she's had it since the 80's! I was raiding her closet one day and once I saw it I just had to steal it! The little black and brown bag is another treasure I came across in my mama's closet. The high-waist shorts I have on are from a local thrift store. They actually started off as straight leg jeans, but I made them into shorts and destroyed them a bit. I don't remember where I got my shoes, but they're just a simple pair of t-strap wedges.

My favorite thing about this outfit is how it's a mix of different styles and pieces from different decades. I love, love, love going to thrift stores and vintage stores and raiding my mama's closet to see what kinds of unique gems I can find. These are a few of the best ways to stand out and really personalize your style!

So, I'm a bit excited right now. I have an interview today with one of my favorite stores, Francesca's Collections. For those of you who don't know what Francesca's Collections is, it's a women's clothing boutique. Their clothes are very whimsical, eclectic and quirky. Other than clothes, they sell the most gorgeous accessories, shoes and bags. See for yourself here. For the interview I'm wearing a dress that I actually purchased from Francesca's last year. Hopefully everything goes well!!

Girly Grunge

As promised, here's the look I went with for my newly purchased high-waisted shorts. I decided to pair them with a floral tie front tank. I kept jewelry to a minimum and wore two simple black and silver bangles. To toughen up the look, I added black combat boots. Most people don't think of boots as a spring/summer shoe, but I disagree! I love pairing my boots with feminine garments for a cool, eclectic look, and what better time to do that than in the spring in summer? Floral skirts, lace dresses, colored denim shorts,... the possibilities are endless! As far as high-waisted shorts, I'll definitely be buying more this summer and even making some of my own! Maybe I'll even post a few tutorials to show you guys how to whip up your own!

High Shorty!

I was doing a little shopping today and I came across these cool pairs of shorts. I love bleached and color dyed denim, so these quickly caught my eye and I had to have 'em. Although you can't really tell in the picture, these shorts are also high-waisted! Love! I'm thinking about wearing the bottom pair tomorrow with a floral tie-front tank. I'll post the look tomorrow!

Long Lost Boyfriend

I've had these orange boyfriend pants since 2010 and I've never worn them. Crazy, huh? Between 2010 and now I've gotten rid of ALOT of clothes but I every time I brush past the orange section in my color coded closet, I can never bring myself to throw these pants out. They're a nice looking pair of pants! They're soft, they fit great, and I scored a great deal on them! They were originally $44.50 but I paid just $14.95 for them at American Eagle Outfitters! One thing about me: I LOVE a great deal, so I just had to have these pants. However, I could never find the right pieces to pair them with, and the bright orange color made me even more hesitant to wear them. I had a change of heart today and decided to add a pop of color into my outfit. It's springtime, so why not? I paired the pants with a black and white striped top and a pair of black pumps. Black and white stripes are a great addition to any solid colored garment. Do you have something in your closet that you've never worn? Break it out! Mix and match it with other items in your closet and see what you come up with!
