A Day at the Park

How often do you take a break from retweeting your favorite tweets, liking all your friend's pictures or snapchatting your every move? Remember what it's like to enjoy the company of another person or even better- venture outside and enjoy natural light and fresh air? Yesterday I took advantage of the beautiful, super gorgeous weather we had here in Kansas City. My boyfriend and I ventured down to a few of my favorite childhood spots, Loose Park and Mill Creek Park. We walked around hand in hand, and I must say, the environment was peaceful and refreshing. It was nice to admire beautiful scenery in person rather than scrolling through someone else's life on tumblr or Facebook. It's definitely something I want to do more often. My city has so much beauty and I want to experience as much of it as possible!

This perfect springtime weather inspired me to dress up, sporting flirty florals and bright colors. Check it out below!

Bohemian Belle

I LOVE bohemian style. I love the earthy, free-spirited, natural look and feel of it. Lace, earthy colors, lots of layers, it's just so fun! Think Vanessa Hudgens, Nicole Richie, Coachella fashion, etc... The bohemian ensembles I admire are cool, relaxed and effortless. You can literally just experiment and keep layering and I think that's what makes it so fun! The more eclectic, the better! Boho-style is the perfect way to show off your favorite textures, patterns and colors, all in one outfit! I've put together four super cute boho-chic outfits to shop for this season! Check 'em out! Which one is your favorite?

Want It Wednesday

Spring is soon approaching and we all know what that means... Time to give that closet a good spring cleaning! Out with the old and in with the new! Lately I've been pretty bored with my wardrobe. The winter blues have sucked me in and I am beyond ready for the sunshine, chirping birds and bright flowers to wake me up and get my fashion senses tingling. Spring is just my favorite season! It's my birthday month, it starts getting warmer, flowers start growing, there's spring break -what is there NOT to love about spring? It represents new beginnings and a new beginning is exactly what my closet needs. I've been searching around and I found some pieces that I'd love to add to my closet in the coming weeks. I'm looking forward to my spring shopping spree and giving my closet a fresh, new feel. Details about the items I'm loving right now are below, and as always, links are included so you guys can check out each piece! What are you all looking forward to this spring? Are there any trends or specific pieces that you're excited about?

2. Denim Skirt, $19.95, H&M - This denim skirt could be the perfect edgy addition to the right feminine top. The dark wash is perfection.

4. Maxi Skirt, $50.00, River Island - This maxi skirt is so cute! Especially because it's my favorite color, coral pink!
5. Dotted Blouse, $17.95, H&M - This dotted blouse is so adorable! I don't own very many polka dotted garments but this one definitely makes me want to start! It would look tres cute paired with a cute skirt, maybe that coral maxi skirt? ;)

7. Denim Handbag, $14.99, Target - I love this Exhiliration handbag. Denim is such a staple.

The Denim Skirt

What a flashback, right? Denim skirts were super popular in the earlier 2000s. When I was in 5th grade I had a light blue mini pleated denim skirt that I loooved! I don't know about you guys, but after around 2008 I started to see them fade away. I seriously haven't seen anyone in a jean skirt in forever. However, as I was looking at my favorite online retailer's websites a few days ago, I noticed a very... short, blue trend. I was seeing denim skirts everywhere! Are denim skirts making a comeback? Did they ever leave? What do you guys think? Could you see yourself rockin' a jean skirt? After seeing a few of these pieces, I definitely can see myself in one of them! This is for sure one trend I'll be following! Details about where to find these hot denim skirts below!

I love this quote by the great Orson Welles. It definitely takes time to develop your own personal style and find out what works and doesn't work for you, but once you get there, it is so important to OWN it. Sure, there are fashion "rules" and style do's and don'ts that play an important part of what we choose to wear, but that doesn't mean we have to sacrifice our uniqueness and individuality. Give people something to talk about, give them something to remember. Figure out what makes you, YOU and go with it!

Flashback Friday

Who remembers the bubble backpack?! In second grade I had a coral pink one from Lip Smackers (it came as a gift with a book order) (REMEMBER BOOK ORDERS?!) and I loooved it! I was the only girl in my grade at the time with a bubble backpack and I thought it was the best thing ever. On today's Flashback Friday I'm looking at how these inflatable carryalls have made a comeback! I was browsing on ASOS.com and I came across these bags and I was like OMG! As you can see the Lizzie McGuire reference above, I was having some serious flashbacks. It's surprising to see that these bags are actually making a comeback. I would definitely rock one. What do you guys think? Would you bring back the bubble backpack?

I love this quote from Whitney Houston. In no way am I agreeing with the statement that men can't wear dresses. It's 2014 - to each his/her own. However, in a society where women are constantly being criticized, nitpicked at and told over and over again what we "SHOULD" be and what we "CAN'T" be, Whitney lets us know that although it's "a man's world", women are still capable of the same or even greater accomplishments than men. She lets us know that women are limitless in our abilities. I attend a women's college and I take great pride in the fact that I am surrounded by so many ambitious, creative, intelligent, driven young women who want to succeed in life and break barriers just like me. As a young woman it's important to remember that the world is yours. Never let anyone tell you what you CAN'T do simply because of your gender. GIRL POWER!
